2018 Ridolfo IGT, Rocca di Montegrossi

The regal Ridolfo is a 50-50 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon <div>and Pugnitello – a grape so named because of its tightly </div><div>packed bunches resembling little fists. Both are powerful, </div><div>tannic, “Alpha” varietals that nonetheless come together in </div><div>perfect harmony in Ridolfo. This year’s release, the 2018, </div><div>is again bottled exclusively in magnum, for it’s a wine </div><div>conceived for long-term ageing. That said, the 2018 is </div><div>expressive and complex even now, with black fruit, tar and </div>savoury notes. It’s full-bodied, inky yet fresh.
