There's a special place in our hearts for lighter reds but as the nights draw in, we tend to reach for wines with a little more structure and depth. Classic sources of such wines include the Rhône and Piedmont – two regions that also happen to produce, at this time of year, some of the world's finest truffles. Autumn is also game season here the UK, which is an ideal excuse to uncork your finest mature red Burgundies.
