2024 IGT Toscana Sangiovese, Tenuta Le Potazzine

As pure and unadulterated as Sangiovese gets, this wine is grown in Montalcino but raised in steel tanks, rather than oak, hence the IGT designation. Gigliola admits it doesn’t make much commercial sense, since she could make a high-quality Rosso from the same grapes, but tasting the ’24, it’s easy to forget such considerations. It springs from the glass with cranberry, herbal and wet stone aromas. There’s a touch of noble bitterness on the finish, which makes it an exceptionally moreish, food-friendly red.
