2024 Chianti Colli Aretini, Mannucci Droandi

Roberto and Maria-Grazia Droandi craft some of the most characterful and downright delicious Chianti Classico we have tasted at their idyllic, organic-certified estate, nestled in the Aretini hills. Their flagship wine is made from 90% Sangiovese and 5% Canaiolo, with a dash of various other local grape varieties (of which Roberto is an enthusiastic advocate). It spends 12 months in used barriques and a further 12 in bottle prior to release. The 2024 is open and inviting, with classic red fruit, floral and herbal aromas. Combining fresh acidity with ripe tannins and a touch of grip towards the finish, it’s a predictably effective match for meat and pasta dishes.
