Oregon
Oregon is a source of some of the most elegant cool climate Chardonnay and Pinot made not only in the USA, but anywhere in the world. Lying between California to the south and Washington State to the north, its climate is shaped by the Cascade Mountains and the mighty Pacific Ocean. The best known AVAs (American Viticultural Areas) here include the Willamette Valley and Eola Amity Hills. Relative to other regions, Oregon has a high proportion of producers who farm organically or biodynamically. It’s also seen significant recent investment from producers based in neighbouring California and even Burgundy – testament to the fact that, for all the accolades that have already come its way, Oregon’s full potential is only now being revealed.
