2021 Pommard 1er Cru Rugiens, Domaine Violot Guillemard

As to be expected from this powerful site, the colour here is deeper and darker than its peers. It has an assertive yet finely detailed tannic structure with brilliant intensity of wild berry fruits, undergrowth and exotic spices. Again there is a translucent quality to the fruit that achieves both power and delicacy. This cuvée also sees 100% whole cluster and new oak which Joannès feels integrate better with one another and it’s hard to argue with him based on this example. An outstanding example of this vineyard.
