2022 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Bel Air, Domaine Taupenot-Merme

Always one of the star wines in the range, these 50-year old vines have produced a very grown up, serious wine. It used to be a little too cool in this little part of Burgundy, but now, in these warmer times, this coolness translates perfectly into welcome freshness and drive. It has a slightly stony edge which leads into quite a sapide finish of great definition. The mid-palate is full of rich red fruits, but the tannins are fine and punctuated. Lovely wine.
