2023 Art Series, Riesling, Leeuwin Estate

Taut and mineral as ever, with extra complexity and weight on the mid-palate in ’23 owing to increased lees stirring, the 2023 Art Series Riesling is beautifully balanced – and provides an early glimpse of what’s already being hailed as one of the greatest vintages in the history of Margaret River. There’s basil, lime leaf and sea spray as well as powerful ripe citrus aromas on the nose. Mouthwatering acidity and a lovely, lingering saline finish make this a great accompaniment to shellfish. It’s a wine that can age too – becoming more complex and meditative. Currently on pour at Leeuwin’s superb restaurant is the 2016 Riesling, paired with scallop crudo.
