In 1989, two Burgundian icons, Jacques Seysses of Domaine Dujac and Aubert de Villaine of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, and their friend Michel Macaux set out to establish a domaine in the south of France.

In Nans-les-Pins, 30 km from the Mediterranean coastline, they found the perfect site: a south-facing slope with elevations of some 350 to 400 metres. It would be christened ‘Triennes’ in honour of the Triennia, bacchanals held every three years during the Roman Empire to honour Bacchus, the god of wine and fertility. The prefix ‘tri-’ also referring to the original three partner-owners.

Domaine Triennes today amounts to 46 hectares (40 under vine), which are organic certified. Jacques’s sons Alec and Jeremy Seysses are frequent visitors from Burgundy and continue to have a hand in the winemaking.

The acclaimed Triennes Rosé is a blend of Cinsault, Syrah, Grenache and Merlot. Pale, crisp and elegant, it’s a benchmark southern French rosé, available in bottles, magnums, double magnums and even larger formats on request.

Domaine Triennes is also the source of excellent whites and reds, which combine Mediterranean exuberance with a level freshness and detail indicative not only of the exceptional terroir here but the Seysses family’s golden touch.
