Piedmont
Piedmont, in the foothills of the Alps, is one of the world’s most captivating wine regions. The landscape is characterised by beautiful hilltop towns and endless rolling hills, planted primarily with Nebbiolo – a grape capable of expressing every last nuance of the terroir here. Barolo and Barbaresco are Piedmont’s most celebrated DOCGs, but there also are fabulous wines to be found in Alto Piemonte, in the North East of the region. Moreover, there is an exciting cast of supporting grape varieties to get to know, including Barbera, Dolcetto and fashionable white Timorasso.
