Rupert grew up in Swindon Village on the outskirts of Cheltenham. From Pates Grammar School he headed to Gloucester College to study music production. After school, he moved to London to work in recording studios, though worked in cocktail bars on the side. He soon moved into hospitality at The Crown in Bildeston. In 2017, he started at Le Manoir Aux Quat’Saisons, during which he became CMS certified. In 2019 he was a finalist in the Taittinger UK Sommelier of the Year competition. Rupert then worked for five years at English sparkling winery Hundred Hills in the Stonor Valley, growing the trade, exports and private client membership as well as being involved in the traditional method winemaking decisions. Outside of work, Rupert supports Hospitality Action as well as cancer and hospice charities, and helps out friends at Ham Street Wines in Kent. Rupert lives in Shepherd's Bush with his fiancée Kathy.
