2021 Casa Verde Field Blend Redwood Valley, Leo Steen

This vineyard lies in Redwood Valley and the 70-year-old vines are made up of Grenache and Carignan with some Barbera, Cabernet Sauvignon and Colombard in there for good measure. Leo's desire was to bring back a true field blend that had been planted many years ago by Italian immigrants and had historically been enjoyed as a light, fresh table wine. This alluring wine with its electrical purple hue opens up with inviting notes of red cherry, black raspberry followed by hints of violet and red perilla leaf. This vibrant wine is loaded with red cherry, cranberry, purple flower and earthy notes. The acidity from the Carignan shines through on the finish which is lively and fresh. This red table wine is a perfect candidate for early drinking and should be enjoyed chilled.
