2021 Beaune Rouge 1er Cru Grèves, Domaine Rapet Père & Fils

Without doubt one of the finest terroirs of Beaune, the vineyard has an iron rich, clay soil and good aspect and exposition, with the Rapet family parcel planted with 60 year old vines. In 2021, the yields were at 30 hl/ha not the worst but below ideal. The wine has an inviting nose, with ripe red cherry and forest berry, the palate is quite open and generous and smooth, with a taut minerality, stoniness, concentration and structure, with a long and persistent finish. As with many 2021's it might be accessible in youth but would benefit from some cellaring. Drink from 2026
