2021 Barbaresco Gallina, Cantina del Pino

Juicy, bright red fruit and lots of floral, limestone character. Elegant and subtle now, with ripe, powerful and grippy tannins that add to the chalky texture to build to a moreish finish. Gallina lies on the opposite hillside from Albesani. It’s a south-west facing Cru vineyard, with plentiful sunlight and soils of clay-limestone and sand. Cantina del Pino’s parcel here is tiny: in smaller vintages, its fruit is simply blended into the Barbaresco Classico.
