2021 Barbaresco DOCG, Cantina del Pino

This has a nice generosity despite the general austere feel of this vintage. Elegant and charming, there’s a lovely youthful freshness and some crunchy blackberry and cherry fruit. But you can tell there’s depth and complexity here just waiting to emerge with some more time in bottle. Cantina del Pino’s consistently excellent Barbaresco Classico is blended from numerous plots, the majority of them within the Ovello Cru. Like the single vineyard wines, it was raised for 24 months in large oak casks (botti), then a further 18 months in bottle prior to release.
