2019 Studio di Bianco, Borgo del Tiglio
Collio Goriziano, Friuli, Italy
This wine is comprised of three different varietals from the 5
ha Ruttars vineyard. The Sauvignon is left slightly longer to
be able to be harvested alongside the later ripening Riesling
and Friulano, allowing for the typicity of the vintage to
show through as well as the pronounced profiles of the three
distinct grapes. The final blend being an approximate make
up of 50% Friulano, 25% Sauvignon Blanc and 25% Riesling,
it’s typically aged in neutral oak for up to 10 months. “Before
bottling the nose was very balanced between the floral notes
of Riesling and the citrusy/peachy notes from Sauvignon,
with Friulano contributing to the mineral accents. The
wine has a lot of acidity that keeps it nervous, balanced
by the zestiness typical from Sauvignon and Friulano, and
it will probably be the one needing more time to be fully
expressive.”
