2023 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Clos Baulet, Domaine des Lambrays

This is the smallest 1er Cru in Morey and sits just in front of the domaine, sandwiched between Les Blanchards and Clos Sorbè. The Domaine owns around a third of a hectare which is about 40% of the 0.9 hectares that make it up. In fact, it was part of the domaine from 1938 to 1980, and so it is a homecoming of sorts for this bijou cru. The soil is brown and quite delicate with some fine stones and the wine very much reflects its terroir. Beautifully seductive florality on the nose leads into quite a delicate and very Pinotesque palate of real purity and lithe elegance. This is lovely, completely delightful and very much the essence of Pinot. Drink from 2028
