2022 Pommard 1er Cru Epenots, Olivier Leflaive

We only began working with Franck and Jean at Olivier Leflaive a few years ago. The wines had been showing sensationally well at the annual Burgfest tastings for a while and we just couldn’t ignore their fine quality any longer. Luckily, they were kind enough to grant us an allocation and we couldn’t say “yes” quickly enough. For this Pommard 1er Cru Epenots, the grapes come from the area of Les Grands Epenots, from 40 yo vines planted mid-slope on clay and limestone soils. 100% destemmed grapes, producing a wine with vibrant dark fruit and a touch of spice from oak (20% new) and some lovely notes of forest floor, giving complexity.
