2021 Art Series, Cabernet Sauvignon, Leeuwin Estate

2021 was a cool vintage in Margaret River, and Leeuwin’s iconic Cabernet has a ton of savoury character as a result, with violet, bay leaf, dried sage and lavender notes. As ever the grapes are dry grown, and the core of the wine is from Leeuwin’s own-rooted vines from Blocks 8, 9,10 planted in the original plantings of 1975. It’s raised in 50% new Bordeaux barriques for 23 months and walks that fine line between plush, sunny fruit and serious backbone, with a transparency and moderate weight owing to the cooler growing season.
