2023 Bourgogne Chardonnay Les Charmes, Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair

This is a relatively new estate, created in 2001, but the history of Thibault's family in wine, direct or otherwise, is quite layered and complex, dating back 300 years! Thibault farms biodynamically and works in similar fashion in the cuverie. The Chardonnay grapes come from 40 year old vines planted in the Mâconnais in the region of Lugny. The southern exposure of the vineyard “Les Charmes” offers a good maturity, while the terroir of limestone brings a beautiful freshness. The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks for 14 months, resulting in a fresh and pure expression of Chardonnay, revealing aromas of exotic and citrus fruits, enhanced by spicy notes of white pepper and star anise.
