2021 Mar Farm Edna Valley Chardonnay, Kings Carey

This is James’ first year working with this organically farmed coastal vineyard, located in Edna Valley up north from Santa Barbara in San Luis Obispo County. As he says, “I really like this area as a different version to the Chardonnay from the Sta. Rita Hills as it’s still cool climate but doesn’t have the funnel aspect that Sta. Rita Hills has when it comes to the wind.” This wine shows it’s youthfulness with only a hint of new oak. Lemon zest, green apple and grapefruit on the nose with peach and a touch of spice on the bright and saline finish.
