2023 Saint-Joseph, Préface, Domaine Pierre Jean Villa

Préface blends four parcels planted on granite soils, including vines planted as recently as seven years ago and others dating back to 1934. Crafted exclusively from the historic Sérine clone of Syrah, the wine is fermented with 50% whole bunches before spending 14 months in barrel, with no new oak. The more fruit-forward counterpart to Tildé, it opens with dark fruits, cracked black pepper and delicate floral notes. Fine, supple tannins and a fresh thread bring balance and an elegant finish.
