2017 Grist Vineyard Zinfandel, Failla Wines

With decades of experience in Rhone Valley, Paso Robles, Sonoma County and Napa Valley, perhaps it was no surprise that Ehren wanted to work again with Zinfandel. Grist is an exceptional vineyard, located just west of Healdsburg, on the Northwest slopes of Bradford Mountain, Grist was first planted around 1900. Its current iteration was planted in 1973. This beautiful vineyard sits above the fog line in red volcanic soil that gives the wine the vibrantly clean and fresh from start to finish. It is dense with plenty of dark brambly fruits as well as graphite and violets balanced by a bright and focused finish. A superb Zinfandel.
