2015 Méthode Traditionelle Brut, Domaine du Clos Naudin (Vincent Foreau)

A sage at Flint HQ recently described Foreau’s Brut Réserve as ‘one of the world’s great sparkling wines’ and nobody took issue – that's how good it is. Domaine Foreau, a neighbour of Huet, is one of the best-kept secrets of the Loire Valley, but for how long? Be it the Sec, Demi-Sec, Moelleux or sparkling, the wines are outstanding and made only in tiny volumes. Our advice: get in while you can. While the delicious Vouvray Brut spends 18 months on the lees, this, the Brut Réserve, is aged for no fewer than four years. Immensely complex, rich yet daisy-fresh, it’s ready to drink on release, but will only improve over the coming decade and perhaps beyond.
