2022 Beaune 1er Cru Clos de L'Ecu, Domaine Faiveley

This 1er Cru monopole of 2.4 hectares was bought by the domaine twenty years ago. The vines are between 30 and 75 years old, planted on lightish, gravelly soil, which gives a wonderful elegance and energy to the wine. Although it faces south and ripens easily, it is found some way up the slope which keeps it understated and discreet. Precise tannins and nicely detailed. Good value, too. Drink from 2027
