2021 Barolo Cascina Nuova, Elvio Cogno

Valter describes this brilliant wine as his ‘most democratic Barolo’ and not only because it’s the least expensive! Hailing from younger vines around the winery itself in the heart of the Ravera Cru, it’s conceived for earlier drinking albeit it’s a wine that ages very well indeed – particularly in such a stellar vintage as 2021. The ‘21 is charmingly open on the nose, with ripe red cherry, floral and savoury aromas. The palate combines juicy fruit with a subtle mineral character becoming more pronounced towards the finish.
