2021 Pre-phylloxera Barbera, Elvio Cogno

We eagerly await every new vintage of this outstanding Barbera, made from the fruit of un-grafted vines over a century old at some 520 metres altitude. The sandy soil here (in the comune of Berri, near La Morra) provided natural protection from Phylloxera. It’s a wine of tremendous complexity and depth, with a gamut of herbal, floral and summer fruit aromas. On the palate, there’s plenty of fresh acidity complimented by voluminous fruit and supple tannins. Drinking window: 2024-2032
