2023 Langhe Nascetta di Novello, Elvio Cogno

Winemaker Valter Fissore (Elvio’s son-in-law) has done as much as anyone to revive the fortunes of the local Nascetta grape – which was in danger of extinction just a decade or so ago. In the right hands, it’s a characterful, elegant and age-worthy grape with cleansing acidity and a moreish saline character. Valter’s is the best example we have tasted, and a wine that will only improve with a few more years in bottle.
