2024 Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru Sur La Roche, Domaine Gilles Morat

Having finally been awarded 1er Cru status in 2020, this Cru faces southeast towards the top part of the hill of Vergisson, at around 400 metres. The part of the vineyard that was higher up still, was separated and remained a normal Fuissé without the same 1er Cru tag, although the family firmly believe that both parts should be equally classified. The vines were planted in the early sixties, and the wine sees about 20% new oak. This is a really lovely 1er Cru with the Morat telltale purity stretching elastically across the palate, keeping it taut and compact. Drink from 2029
