2022 Los Alamos Vineyard Pinot Noir, Chanin

Like the Chardonnay, Los Alamos Pinot has become a more “serious”, concentrated wine as the vines have aged, but it remains a wonderfully charming, red-fruit and floral scented Pinot with lots of crunch and freshness pointing to the vineyard’s altitude and shale/limestone soil. Interestingly, Gavin feels that any more than 10-15% whole-bunch masks this cuvée’s inherent lift and delicacy (he uses a higher proportion for his other Pinots). There’s lots of ripe fruit and plush tannins on the mid-palate, which tapers to a long, sophisticated finish.
