2023 Grammatica Rosso Toscana IGT, Cerbaiona

This is a flavoursome, satisfying red with bags of ripe red and black fruit and the savoury notes characteristic of Sangiovese. The wine was raised in concrete tanks for maximum freshness, though its cleansing acidity also points to the cool microclimate at Cerbaiona, where the majority of the vineyards lie on east-facing slopes of Galestro limestone at some 350m altitude. Grammatica may be 'Cerbaiona's simplest wine' but it really over-delivers for the price and offers some insight into the soaring heights reached by the estate's iconic Brunello.
