Santinovo 2020 is part of the second release from Matthew’s “garagiste” project and, in his view, his best Bordeaux-varietal wine to date. It’s an 80-20 blend of Cab Franc and Cab Sauv grown in Borgo Santinovo, near Monterrigioni (an hour’s drive north of Cerbaiona). Matthew is particularly excited about the potential of Cab Franc in this area, and it’s easy to grasp why: this is a wine with sculpted tannins, cleansing acidity and wave after wave of cool red and black fruit. A real thoroughbred. Drinking window: 2025-2035
