The Premium Pinot is again a barrel selection, which sees more new oak than the Estate (around 40% versus 20%) but wears its influence very lightly. The fruit here is a touch darker and the tannins more muscular but perfectly defined. The grapes were de-stemmed and the wine bottled un-fined and unfiltered, like the majority of Jean-Marie’s Burgundies. This wine’s persistence is striking, and leaves no doubt about its capacity to age.
