2024 Chablis Scritch, Cyprien Arlaud

Scritch is a new project from ace winemaker Cyprien Arlaud of the renowned Domaine Arlaud in Morey-Saint-Denis. The name derives from the sound of chalk scratching against the wooden vats in the cellar — a sound Cyprien associates with his children, who would play among the barrels. This sense of fun is reflected in the distinctive labels and the spirit of the wines themselves. The result is a collection of bright, expressive, organic white wines that are lively, energetic, and layered with both freshness and complexity. A beautifully pure expression of Chablis, with citrus and green orchard fruit, a saline, limestone character and a finely textured finish. Whole bunches are gently pressed before fermentation with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel, where the wine remains on its lees and undergoes full malolactic fermentation. Certified organic.
