Château Margaux, one of the five First Growths of the Medoc, almost needs no introduction. Not only lending its name to the Margaux commune, it also defines its style, characteristically ethereal, haunting, silky, and elegantly impressive. Its modern era began in 1977, when the estate was sold to the Mentzelopoulos family. It’s the grandchildren of Andre Mentzelopoulos who now run the estate, and since the seventies, a host of memorable characters have grown the estate into even more of a global superstar, including Paul Pontallier and Philippe Bascaules for winemaking, and Norman Foster for redesigning the facilities, the first renovations since 1810!
