Château Latour-Martillac

Bordeaux, France

Latour-Martillac is named for its distinctive tower, which dates from before the estate was first developed in the 12th century. Martillac was added to the name to avoid confusion with a certain other Château Latour, and Latour-Martillac has been owned by the Kressman family since the early 1800s. It’s Edouard Kressman who now runs the estate and has taken the exploration of this 54 hectare vineyard to another level. A 0.64ha parcel containing original Semillon vines planted in 1884, is now separated to create the unique “Grapecap” cuvee, named after the original moniker of this plot (gratum caput, or 'precious vine'). The second label, Lagrave-Martillac, is a Flint exclusive in the on trade, and both the red and white overdeliver classic Pessac character with balance and finesse.
