2019 Pommard 1er Cru Les Chaponnières, Domaine Launay-Horiot

The Chaponnières, which lies just below Les Rugiens-Bas, can be found to the south of the village. Despite its geographical proximity, it has little in common with its more illustrious neighbour. It is prettier and more fragrant, showing a lovely aromatic quality that leads into a savoury, crunchy palate with good energy and a controlled, sustained finish of genuine finesse. 30% new oak feels right and there is a certain gentleness to this wine which is very appealing. More brain over brawn.
