2015 Les Mesnil, Grand Cru, Robert Moncuit

Moncuit’s vines in this most illustrious of Grand Crus were planted from the fifties to the seventies. With roots that penetrate deep beneath the vineyard’s chalky surface, they responded well to 2015’s warm, dry growing season, yielding grapes that were concentrated, ripe and – Pierre remembers with a smile – perfectly healthy. The resultant wine is open-knit and expressive, with subtle tertiary notes, but the shimmering acidity and salinity characteristic of the domaine. This will deliver a huge amount of pleasure over the next couple of years.
