2022 Corton Grand Cru Hautes Mourottes, Maxime Cheurlin Noëllat

From the tiny vineyard of Hautes Morottes which is pretty much invisible to the naked eye when looking at a map of Corton but it lies next to Les Renardes on the north-eastern side of the hill of Corton. Climate change is doing its bit to help reinvent the Grand Cru of Corton as are the likes of Maxime, who are playing down the rusticity and maximising the nobility of this good value Cru. Maxime has created a Corton with a fleshy, red fruit underbelly that fills out the stone influenced mid palate to an impressive degree. A Corton that will surprise you.
