2023 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Les Monts Luisants, Domaine Maxime Cheurlin Noëllat

This 5-hectare vineyard is in such a great location, especially given the recent changes in the climate. Sitting above the Grand Cru of Clos de la Roche in the higher slopes of Morey-St-Denis, its soil is thin and poor with the mother rock immediately below. It was always regarded as an interesting place to make white wines given its soil type, but the warmer summers over the last decade have really helped to add flesh to the Pinots’ natural minerality and sapid austerity, so that now we can enjoy wines of real contrast and harmony. This is a delight and a real success in 2023.
