2022 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Boudots, Domaine Georges Noëllat

This is one of the original vineyards that Maxime inherited right back at the beginning of his story and I’ve always had a soft spot for it. The vines are old and the site is right on the northern edge of Nuits, nestling against the borders of Vosne. The vines are really old and it shows in the effortless intensity of the fruit. It feels as if the grapes were 100% ripe without going beyond where one would want them to, so all the energy is still there but so is the poise and refinement. This is wonderfully refined for a Nuits and yet gorgeously hedonistic. Jasper goes long, giving it a whopping 93-96 pts and recognising that is ‘a fully satisfying wine with a deep rich fruit and just the right structure to finish.’ Drink from 2030
