2022 Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chênes, Alex Moreau

Alex and Martine Moreau, who run this fabulous estate, have been friends of Flint Wines pretty much since day one, having been kind enough to grant us an allocation back in 2007. Since then, they have become more than just suppliers and, at the risk of being patronising, it’s been wonderful watching their domaine become one of the most revered in Burgundy. Shallow limestone soils limiting vigour and elevated vineyards produce a wine with structure and mineral tension. In Clos des Chênes, there is also fruit purity and a charming floral lift, resulting in a very harmonious wine.
