2023 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts, Domaine des Lambrays

Buying this back in 2021 represented quite a gear change for the domaine, but a very welcome one, such is the quality of this parcel. Beaux Monts is a fairly large appellation totalling more than 11 hectares, and some of it is certainly very exposed, meaning that in these warmer climes quality driven viticulture and picking dates are becoming more and more crucial. Finding maturity here is rarely over challenging. However, the parcel Jacques got his hands on lies in the upper part of the parcel within the sub lieu-dit of Beaux Monts Hauts, so, although powerful, it is still very much a Vosne. There is plenty of tannic structure and it certainly felt the most backward and unresolved wine of the range back in November. Time will be its friend and allow it to emerge from its compact cocoon into a beautiful vinous butterfly. Drink from 2031
