2022 Mercurey 1er Cru Champs Martin, Domaine Bruno Lorenzon

This great vineyard is planted with both Chardonnay and Pinot and seems equally suited for both. The wine spends 12 months in barrel and 6 months in steel with around 30% new oak. There is 75% whole bunch which brings an additional sense of energy and purpose and adds an airiness to the quite powerful structure. The tannins are very fine and beautifully integrated. Very long with a moreish underlying savoury, saline core.
