2021 Clos-Vougeot Grand Cru, Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair

In the Clos, Thibault has one parcel with the majority being old vines planted in 1944, then about 30% planted in 1992. Within the parcel, there are three distinct soil types: limestone at the top, then red/brown clays and finally silty marl. Thibault believes this complex soil variation in the parcel really helps to have a great expression of the Clos Vougeot. Lots of concentration here, a big wine, bold and broad shouldered, with nice grip in the tannins and ripeness in the fruits. Already showing some of its potential but will age well.
