2023 Block 8 Estate Pinot Noir, Hirsch Vineyards

Block 8 is the de facto Grand Cru at Hirsch, with unique iron-rich red soils and lots of gravel providing excellent drainage. It shows characteristic muscle, but seems more transparent and lithe than usual in this cooler year, with iron, graphite, mineral aromas alongside complex plum, sweet cherry, and pomegranate fruit. Precise and delineated, this will surely go down as one of the greats from Hirsch.
