2020 Barolo Via Nuova, E. Pira (Boschis)

From seven different parcels, Via Nuova habitually combines the salinity and sapidity of Serralunga with the finesse of Barolo. It’s raised 50% in cask, 50% in neutral barrel. The 2020 is a knockout, with a hugely seductive nose of black cherry, scrub, liquorice and mint. Already the tannins are starting to resolve and the oak to integrate, so while this will age very gracefully indeed, it can also be approached relatively young.
