2022 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Vaucrains, Domaine Henri Gouges

One of the best examples of Vaucrains ever tasted at this domaine, the vintage fitting the vineyard as exquisitely as Cinderella’s shoes. Often it would be overly brooding and dark, verging on the impenetrable but this is a total contrast, being expressive, fragrant, almost sumptuous. During vinification the extraction was more delicate and the beautiful ripeness of the berries really helped. Still a baby of a wine but lots of very visible potential. Drink from 2030
