2018 Barbaresco Montestefano, Guido Rivella

The steep, south facing Montestefano vineyard is among the most celebrated in Barbaresco. Guido’s vines here are half a century old. Aged for twenty months in used French tonneaux (900L) and a further ten in tank and bottle, this is a rich, powerful expression of Barbaresco. Plush tannins and a ripe fruit profile are calling cards of Guido’s wines, but his Montestefano ’18 will require another five years in bottle to hit its stride. Drink from 2025
