2018 Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru, Domaine du Clos Frantin

Despite its misleading name Grands Echezeaux is a much smaller vineyard than Echezeaux, sandwiched between its namesake and Clos Vougeot. It’s a seriously good vineyard that has a great mix of soil, providing stature and authority to its wines. Steepsloped and east facing, the vines get great exposure yet the juice maintains composure and balance. 3 out of the 5 barrels made were new. There is great intensity here and the wine has great structure and potential. Very limited sadly.
